Are you aware of the health benefits of reading?

This year National Libraries week (8-13th Oct) has a focus on supporting mental health and wellbeing. 76% of adults say reading improves their life and makes them feel good. For readers, the best tonic for a low mood or anxiety is reading a book. North Cumbria Libraries Health & Wellbeing collection| features self-help books and the Reading Well Books on Prescription| collection for Mental Health. Try a new author from our Book swap.

Get to know the Library staff at the Shape Up health fairs: West Cumberland Hospital (Tuesday 2nd October) and Cumberland Infirmary (Tuesday 9th October) or come and have Five minutes piece at the jigsaw table at Carlisle and Whitehaven Education centre libraries.
