You can use both of the NHS Libraries. By completing a simple registration form you will be given a membership card which will give you access to either library and all our services. Either ring, email or pop along to your nearest library now!


The majority of our journals are clinical but we are increasingly purchasing books on management, communication, searching the Internet etc. Staff can also guide you to good websites and resources on the Internet. We can also borrow and obtain books and journal articles from other libraries.


Contact your local library service for help. Both libraries run drop-in help sessions and other training on finding information on the internet.


There are three partnership schemes. Addlib in North Cumbria, allows NHS staff access to academic, public and health libraries. For more details contact your local NHS library or visit the Addlib website at|.

Passport to Partnership (P2P) enables all NHS and HE staff and students from the participating institutions to access the collective health resources of Cumbria and Lancashire. Public Libraries Partnership (PLP) gives NHS staff free internet access in public libraries.

All NHS employees in this region can access the 3 libraries of Newcastle University.

Yes, North Cumbria NHS Library and Knowledge Services are now part of Addlib, a partnership of libraries in North Cumbria, which allows the public access to health libraries as well as academic and public libraries. For more details contact your local NHS library or visit the Addlib website at|
